Terms of Service
Last updated: 9 August 2026
- The offline app is free and stays free. Cloud sync is free while it is in beta.
- If you subscribe later, you can cancel any time and keep using Metricky offline.
- Refunds depend on where you bought: the app stores handle their own, we handle ours.
- Metricky shows you your own data. It is not a medical device and gives no diagnosis.
Who this agreement is with
Metricky is built and operated by Grön IT AB, a company registered in Sweden. These terms are the agreement between you and Grön IT AB for the Metricky apps, the web app at metricky.com and this website. Using Metricky means you accept them. Questions: gronitab@gmail.com.
You need to be at least 16 to use Metricky. If you are younger, a parent or guardian has to agree to these terms on your behalf and set the account up for you.
What the service is
Metricky comes in two tiers:
- Free. The iOS and Android app, used without an account. Everything is stored on your device, including the full statistics engine. There is nothing to pay and no time limit.
- Cloud. An account that syncs your data, end-to-end encrypted, between your devices and the web app. Cloud is free while it is in beta.
We add, change and occasionally remove features. If we remove something you rely on in a paid subscription, we will tell you before it happens and you can cancel and get the unused part of your term back.
Your account and your passphrase
You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details and your encryption passphrase safe, and for what happens under your account. Tell us at gronitab@gmail.com if you think someone else has got in.
Your passphrase never leaves your devices, which is the point — it means we cannot read your data. It also means we cannot reset it or recover your data if you lose it. That is a design decision, not a support gap, and there is no process that can undo it. Keep the passphrase somewhere you will still have it in a year.
Acceptable use
Track whatever you like about your own life. What you cannot do is use Metricky to break the law, to store or distribute someone else's data without their consent, to attack or overload the service, to work around the encryption or access other people's accounts, or to resell the service as your own.
Subscriptions and billing
Cloud is free while it is in beta, and everyone who used the beta keeps their access free — you will not be moved onto a paid plan because a beta you joined ended. If and when a paid Cloud plan starts, it applies to new public subscriptions, the price and terms are shown before you pay, and nothing is charged without you choosing it.
Where you buy decides who takes the payment:
- In the iOS or Android app — Apple or Google is the seller. They take the payment, they hold the subscription, and their terms apply to the transaction. Prices may differ by store and country.
- On metricky.com — Grön IT AB is the seller, through our payment provider. We never see or store your full card details.
Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period until you cancel, at the price in force at renewal. If we change the price, you get notice before it applies to you and can cancel instead.
Cancelling
You can cancel at any time, without giving a reason. Cancel a store subscription in your Apple or Google account settings; cancel a subscription bought from us in the app's settings or by emailing us. Cancelling stops the next renewal — your subscription keeps working until the end of the period you already paid for.
After that, your account reverts to the free tier: every paired device keeps its complete local copy and keeps working offline. If you delete your account instead, we produce a full export first and then purge the ciphertext on our servers, as described in the privacy policy.
Refunds and the right of withdrawal
Bought through the App Store or Google Play: refunds are handled entirely by Apple or Google under their own policies. Request one through them — we have no way to issue a refund for a purchase we never received. If they turn you down and you think that is wrong, write to us and we will help where we can.
Bought on metricky.com: email us within 14 days of a charge and we refund it in full, no reason needed — wherever you live. For consumers in the EU and UK that is also a statutory right of withdrawal, not only our policy. Outside those 14 days we do not refund the remainder of a period, but you can always cancel so it does not renew. And if the service is broken and we cannot fix it, you get your money back regardless of the 14 days.
Metricky is not medical advice
Metricky is a self-tracking tool. It shows you patterns in data you entered yourself, including correlations between the things you track. It is not a medical device, and nothing in it is a diagnosis, a treatment plan or medical advice.
Correlation is not causation, and the app says so where it matters: a statistical link between two of your metrics can be coincidence, can run the other way round, and can be caused by something you are not tracking at all. Use the numbers to ask better questions, not to answer medical ones. The clinician report exists to bring your own records to a conversation with a professional — not to replace one. Never start, stop or change a treatment because of something Metricky showed you, and get proper help if you are unwell.
Your data stays yours
Everything you track is yours. You keep every right in it; we claim none. We do not sell it, share it, or train anything on it — and for cloud data we could not read it if we wanted to, because it is encrypted before it leaves your device. What we store, and for how long, is set out in the privacy policy.
You can export your data at any time from Settings, on either tier, in an open format.
Our software and brand
The Metricky apps, this website, and the name and logo belong to Grön IT AB. You get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use them while these terms hold. That does not include copying the software, reselling it, or reverse-engineering it beyond what the law allows you to do anyway.
Availability and beta software
We aim to keep the sync service up and the apps working, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. Maintenance happens, providers fail, and phones update. The free tier is unaffected by all of it: an offline install keeps working with no server at all.
Parts of Metricky are explicitly in beta. Beta features are provided as they are, may change or disappear, and are not covered by any service promise. Nothing here removes the rights consumer law gives you.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, Grön IT AB is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost profits, or for data you lost because you lost your passphrase or your device. Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim — which, on a free tier, is nothing.
None of this limits liability that cannot be limited: death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or the mandatory rights you have as a consumer.
Suspension and termination
You can stop using Metricky whenever you want and delete your account from Settings. We may suspend or close an account that breaks the acceptable-use section, that we are legally required to close, or that is being used to attack the service. Unless the law prevents it, we will tell you why and give you a chance to export your data first. If we close the service entirely, we will give cloud users notice, a way to export everything, and a refund of any unused paid time.
Governing law and disputes
Swedish law governs these terms. If you are a consumer, you keep the protections of the mandatory law of the country you live in, and you can bring a claim in your local courts. Before that, email us — most things are a misunderstanding that one reply fixes. Consumers in the EU can also use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform, and in Sweden the Allmänna reklamationsnämnden (ARN).
Changes to these terms
We will update this page when the terms change, and change the date at the top. If a change materially affects you — pricing, your rights, how your data is handled — we will notify cloud-account holders by email before it takes effect, and you can cancel if you do not accept it.
